St Patrick's Day this weekend in Cabo Roig

St Patrick's Day this weekend in Cabo Roig
14 Mar 2019

St Patrick's Day celebrations are nearly upon us……

There are a few things happening locally in the lead up to Sunday and they begin tomorrow, Friday 15th March at 19hrs, with a reception at the Orihuela Costa Town Hall, where Jo Egan, the former heavyweight boxer and current Hollywood star, and the Grand Marshall of this year's parade, will be presented to the public.

On Saturday the 16th March, between 10am and 4pm, the “Association of residents of Desamparados" will be organising craft workshops, in the area near to the Orihuela Costa medical centre. There will be six activities available to enjoy, explaining the harvesting procedure for the artichoke, eating liquorice, lettuce, broccoli, orange, lime and grapefruit workshops.

Turismo have organised for the day of the parade a London bus that will be driving around the area advertising the St Patrick's Day events.

Sunday the 17th, St Patricks Day, activities commence at 1pm along with face painting. The official parade, which starts at 3pm, is said to be the largest parade in Europe, in which almost 1000 people will participate. This year the parade will include 80 representatives of the Association of the Moors and Christians of Orihuela. This has been organised to unite these two important cultures and to give the people of the Orihuela Costa an opportunity to see some of the festivities that are available.

After all the fun of the day the celebrations continue at 9pm on the back side of the Cabo Roig strip with a stunning Firework display.

So, with the weather forecast sunny for this weekend, there is no excuse, grab something green, and head on down to Cabo Roig and enjoy the fantastic St Patricks Day celebration.
