For seven years, a month with as little activity as August did not show such good results in the sale of homes (43,610 houses sold in August 2010), according to the National Statistics Institute (INE). Thus, the real estate market has already reached four consecutive months of promotions, albeit at a milder pace than in previous months: the August rebound was slightly lower than in July (16.8%).
Only in the eighth month of the year, of the total number of transactions registered in the property registers, 82.1% corresponded to used houses, with 33,886 operations and a year-on-year increase of 14.9%. the last 41 months. For its part, the sale of new properties jumped 21.3%, to 7,396 operations.
The purchase of houses grew in all the autonomies, led by Castilla-La Mancha, where it shot up 37.9%; Comunidad Valenciana, with an increase of 32.5%, and Galicia, with an increase of 23%. The largest increases were Navarre (1.9%), Basque Country (4%) and La Rioja (4.4%).
