Festivities in Santiago De La Ribera
The festivities for the patron saint of Santiago de la Ribera, which are in honour of the apostle Santiago, are well under way as they started back on the 6th July and they are long as they continue until the 24th August.
A couple of things happening now that may be of interest are, tomorrow, 25th July there will be an aerial exhibition to be enjoyed by all the family.
The Patrulla Aquila (Eagle Patrol) and the Acrobatic Patrol of Parachuting (P.A.P.E.A) will star in an air show starting at 11am and you can watch from any of the beaches of Santiago de la Ribera.
The Skydiving Acrobatic Patrol will be in charge of starting the exhibition at 11, with two jumps into the sea which will precede a series of spectacular stunts onto land at El Pescador beach. Followed by an airshow by Patrulla Aquila.
Other events happening on this day are a tasting of a typical festive dish “Cauldron” at 1pm and a Soleman Mass at 8pm in honour of the apostle with performances from the Santiago Apostle Chior and the Great Pyromusical Sastillo.
Definitely a fun event to visit if you are in the area.
Another great part of the festival is on 3rd August, this is the 9th Summer Carnival. There is a Carnival Parade at midday, with a parade of the troupes along the Paseo De Colon and Avda Sandoval at 21.30 ending with a costume party at 23.30 in the evening. This is a great Carnival to go and see, very colourful, well put together and fun again for the whole family.
