As the area prepares for yet another busy summer, it is worth remembering that tourism and in particular golf tourism, is in fact a year round part of the regions tourist economy in Spain.

Data that has been compiled by the Chamber of Commerce in Alicante states that golf provides direct employment for over 7´000 people in the province, generating 440 million euros of economy every year.

So Golf Tourism accounts for 0.8% of Alicante Province´s GDP, the monetary value of all finished goods and services, as well as 1.27% of its employment.

So although in the region´s tourism, Sun and Sand does dominate, the greens and fairways of our golf courses also play a very important role.

In the Community of Valencia there are 29 courses, 18 of these are in the province of Alicante. For those who come to play the courses it is estimated that 88% of those that play are non-Spaniards, mainly visiting from northern Europe such as the UK, Norway, Sweden and the Netherlands.

These visitors are more than welcome, as a general rule they spend more than those who come to soak up the sun on the beaches. An average spend of a golfer is €1371 per head, opposed to €867 for the non-golfing tourist.

So for those golfers out there or those wanting to just laze on the soft golden sand watching the Mediterranean Sea, let Golf Sun Spanish Properties help you find the ideal property.
